Serve God's People in Excellence

Serve God's People in Excellence

Colossians 3:23 says, "Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men."

Today’s verse reminds us that whatever our task is, we should do our work as if we were working for Christ Himself. One of the things that continuously frustrates me is the lack of any sense of work ethic in businesses today. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ordered food at a restaurant, and it is hastily and sloppily prepared with the expectation of a tip at the end. I’ve even thought to myself, as I look at the server “would you have made it this way if you were eating it?”

More importantly, would you serve Jesus this if He was your customer?  Technically, we are serving Jesus too. Because we are made in His image.  We should envision Jesus standing in the middle of every conversation, meal, business meeting, discussion, or even a gossip session. Keeping Him at the center will improve our work ethic, and the quality of our conversations.  We may work for a boss, but ultimately, we work for Christ.

Or if you're the giver and mail a package to a customer who supports you, is it wrapped nicely with a thank you note? How would you package it if Jesus Christ was your customer? Something to think about when we decides who receives excellence and who receives mediocre. Ask yourself why you celebrate, serve and package one friend's package nicely, and the other person gets the blah wrapping or none. I would like for you to superimposed the face of Christ over the faces of everyone you meet today, and discover how we’d probably be a lot kinder in conversation, more likely to forgive one another, and we’d be a better friend and spouse. In whatever we are doing today, strive to keep Christ at the center.

Love and Blessings, until next time.
